Oregano Oil

Description

Oregano was frequently used by the Greeks for various health problems, from seizures to a wide variety of conditions. Eclectic American physicians of the 19th century used oregano as a tonic and to promote menstruation.
Oregano contains several components, including volatile oils such as carvacrol, thymol, borneol, as well as flavonoids, rosmarinic acid, triterpenoids, sterols, vitamin A and vitamin C.

The thymol and carvacrol content in oregano is responsible for promoting antimicrobial and antifungal effects. A test tube study showed that the oil, particularly carvacrol, inhibited the growth of Candida albicans much more effectively than a commonly used antifungal agent called calcium magnesium capylate. According to the results of another study in Australia, in addition to antifungal activity, oregano oil promotes antimicrobial activity against a large number of bacteria.

Oregano oil should always be taken with caution and recommendations should not be exceeded.
